MARK L. CLASTER

Mark L. Claster is the immediate past President of Carl Marks & Co. and Partner of Carl Marks Advisors, bringing more than 40 years of executive and leadership experience to the firm.

Mr. Claster also serves as Co-Chair of the Board of Carl Marks and on its Executive and Investment committees. He has participated in more than 100 transactions. He holds an advisory role in the firm’s investment businesses and previously served as general partner of Carl Marks’ two Small Business Investment Companies.

In addition, Mr. Claster founded a Carl Marks affiliate, Carl Marks Advisors (CMA), and currently leads its work overall, in restructuring and in healthcare. CMA provides investment banking, strategic operational advice and interim management services to healthy and distressed companies. Through CMA, Mr. Claster has held executive management roles and served as a financial advisor for companies across industries. He also is President of Carl Marks Securities and is registered with FINRA as a General Securities Principal.

Mr. Claster is the immediate past Chairman of, and still serves on, the Board of Trustees of Northwell Health, New York’s largest health system. In addition to his continued board service, Mr. Claster currently serves as a Special Advisor to Northwell and its CEO. Additionally, Mr. Claster is a member of the Joint Board of Overseers for the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and a member of the Board of Mather Hospital.

An active member of the community, Mr. Claster is involved philanthropically, especially in supporting youth development, health and Israel. He serves as a member of the Board of ImpactIsrael (formerly Friends of Yemin Orde) and as a Trustee for the Carl Marks Foundation. He also has served as President of Fresh Meadow Country Club.

Mr. Claster began his career as a tax attorney with Olin & Philips. He holds a BBA with honors from Ohio University, a JD from Hofstra University School of Law and an LLM in Taxation from NYU School of Law.
