Jim Kilby is a senior management executive and business consultant with over 30 years of diverse national and international consulting and operating experience in the gaming industry. He has held positions from dealer to Senior VP of Casino Operations. During the past 20 years, Mr. Kilby has served as a consultant to virtually every major gaming operator in the world, advising on operational and marketing concerns. He has experience with all aspects of casino development and management, including planning, construction, training, creation and implementation of controls, marketing, and the management and supervision of all gaming personnel. In addition, he is an expert casino analyst, having conducted extensive profitability analyses of various consumer markets, instituted cost control policies, and created meaningful management reporting processes. He was the first full time university gaming professor in the US at UNLV.
Relevant consulting and business experience includes the following:
- University Of Nevada Las Vegas, Professor of Gaming; Faculty instructor of all casino related courses: Casino Management, Casino Operations, and Protection of Casino Games; he also authored two industry standard books on casino management, “Principles of Casino Marketing” and “Casino Operations Management”
- Chickasaw Nation, Gaming Operations Officer: Responsible for management of 16 Native American gaming casinos throughout south/central Oklahoma; facilities contained over 8,000 slots, 200 table games, Off Track Betting Parlors, restaurants, entertainment venues, and over 4,000 employees
- RIO Hotel & Casino, Vice President International Marketing: Supervised staff of 30, responsible for all international marketing, generating over $100 million in yearly casino win; instituted a successful non–negotiable chip program, created discount program to encourage play and insure profit, and created new baccarat side bets to increase game advantage
- Crown Plaza, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Vice President Casino Operations: Responsible for the development of a start–up casino operation, including designing the casino, obtaining all necessary gaming licenses, game selection, layout, theme development, selecting and managing staff, establishing controls, creating and implementing marketing plan
Mr. Kilby has also conducted management training seminars for clients such as the Stardust Hotel & Casino, Fitzgerald’s Casino-Hotel, Harvey’s Hotel & Casino, and Eldorado Hotel & Casino. Mr. Kilby earned a BBA of finance from University of Oklahoma.
